WinDat Opener App Reviews

16 Customer Reviews:

I have tried and even purched other Windat File openers, but this program proved to be the best on available. It opened 100% of the Windat files I have received so far, being able to extract both the e-mail message (intact) and the attached files (mostly PDF files). I am running on OS X El Capitan 10.11.5

I just got an e-mail from a client that had four PDF attachements in a winmail.dat file, so I was kind of scrambling to find a utlitiy to open it. (Loving the App Store vs. a Google search, by the way.) Took a chance on this one and it worked fine. I dropped the .dat file on the app, it showed the four PDF files, and I dragged them to the desktop. Certainly not a whiz-bang sort of thing, but it did what it claimed it would do. To be fair, I understand there are free utilities out there that will do this. For me, it was more efficient to check the App Store first so I could quickly get back to work.

Seems to work well for most things, but some winmail.dat files show up as empty, even though I know they are not as they have appointments attached to them.

I had previously downloaded TNEFs Enough program to view .dat winmail files, but it was completely worthless. I took the plunge on this app and it worked perfectly!

I recieved a collection of vCards from someone in the win.dat format. Not wanting to create all the contacts from scratch, I thought this app would be a time saver - but no luck. It opened the file, but was unable to retrieve anything useful. Ill post again if I have more occasion to use it.

I am a contractor who gets windat files from other contractors, and on an Apple computer is not possible to open. I needed to give a quote to this contractor who sent me some windat coded files and I went to the app store and found this program. I downloaded it and it worked as it was advertised. I was able to open the files and get a quote back to my customer right away. I would highly recommend this app to any Apple users out there who have had this probem in the past. I only wish I would have found this sooner. Good Job!

My husband got a document he needed for work the next day in a windat fomat. He couldnt open it. I downloaded this app and went back to the email, and the attachment opened right up! It was that simple!

I was in a real hurry and it worked flawlessly and quickly! Withing 15 seconds of completed download I opened up my "win mail.dat" graphic file! (from my email)!

This little app solved a real problem opening winmail.dat attachments from PC clients. It works flawlessly and automatically. Great work. The solutions offered by Apple support (such as telling all of your clients with problematic email servers to change their Rich Text or TNEF encoding) did not work. Now the PC and the Mac can just shake hands.

Crashes all the time now

The latest version of the app now crashes on launch everytime!

This was my go-to app for emails from an important client. With the new update for the computer (El Capitian) it crashes on launch EVERY TIME. I have updated it to the newest version, up to date on all updates but it still crashes. I have consulted the website and it doesn’t help me at all. I would like to use this but it doesn’t appear to want to work. If it worked I’d give it 5 starts but because it just crashes I can’t do that. HELP!!

Crashes and will not function

I had used this app to open all windat files until now. It crashes every time I open it.

guess I wasted my $

purchased in September and it worked until a few weeks ago. Now it won’t work. When I try to open it I get a “windat opener quit unexpectedly” and when I click on the reopon button I get the same message.
